Another music documentary has been making metal waves, it's called 'Until The Light Takes Us'. It deals primarily with the Norwegian black metal scene, there's more at: blackmetalmovie.com. It's been out (in North America) since July 2009.
The movie is directed by Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell. It documents the role Varg 'Count Grishnackh' Vikernes played in establishing the underground, (somewhat) ideological and ritualistic metal genre in Norway.
Vikernes was interviewed in his Norwegian prison cell. Described as a sociopath, Vikernes is asked about his philosophy that drove him to create his style of Satanic based, thrash styled heavy metal.
He was also quizzed about his desire to burn down irreplaceable 11th century churches and eventually stab his friend (in the skull) to death.

And guess what, Hollywood has decided to jump on the church burning, Devil horns metal train as well. The movie 'Lords of Chaos' is in the works.
The film is based on Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind’s book of the same name, 'Lords of Chaos' and same Norwegian BM story.
And teen heartthrob, Jackson Rathbone (of 'Twilight' fame) is set to play Varg Vikernes. Whoa... that bring in the young girls fa sure.
There is one small problem. Both films (from what I've read and heard) do not look outside Norway or profile (the most influential BM band) Venom's role in the establishment of the music genre.
That's right, Cronos, Mantas and Abbadon. The original line up... the true black metal gods.
I mean, it seems to me the film makers were looking for a sensational story (Satanic rituals, Church fires and murder) about disenfranchised youth with a true villain/cult hero... and not necessarily documenting black metals true history.
Fair enough, they can do what they want.
I wonder where they got the idea from (the LOC book). Maybe this video feature called 'True Norwegian Black Metal' (there's also a hardcover book available).
There are five parts on YouTube. The first part of this doc has had over 1-million hits alone.
At least the makers of this doc recognize the role Venom played in the creation of the black metal.
