Head Cat Rocks Chico

Lemmy and the Head Cats are tearin' it up on their, albeit limited, US dates.

The Head Cat consists of: Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead, Slim Jim Phantom from Stray Cats, Danny B. Harvey from Rockats.

There most recent tour stop was at El Rey theatre in California.

Tyler Ash of the Orion, sat down with Lemmy for a Q&A about his involvement with Head Cat. Here's a line from the article that I just couldn't resist posting.

Although Lemmy's not too fond of the video game itself, he was also in 'Guitar Hero: Metallica'.

"It's pretty sad really," he said. "Why don't you learn to play a real guitar? I mean, no chicks are gonna suck your dick for a fuckin' little plastic guitar - that's not how it works."

Classic Lemmy!

Motörhead Race Car

Check it.

Love this computer graphic/design of a prototype Le Mans Series race car. The person behind the keyboard is SpikeG79.

Oh and here's a great article from the Idaho Statesman on Lemmy and his work with The Head Cat.

From the by-line:

"His early influences are on proud display in the Head Cat, a side project performing Sept. 21 at Neurolux in Boise. It's Lemmy's first trip to Idaho, he says. The trio, which also includes drummer Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats and rockabilly guitarist Danny B. Harvey, will perform cover songs by early rock 'n' roll, blues and rockabilly performers such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran."

The Big 4 DVD

This is going to be wicked! Check it, 'The Big 4: Live from Sofia, Bulgaria'. I know, we've all heard about the concert and now the DVD (Blue-ray) is about to hit store shelves.

Just before Halloween, (10/29/2010) this DVD featuring Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer will hit the streets (North America will see it on 11/01/2010).

Yup, the cameras were already rolling so the powers that be decided to capture the moment on disc and share it with the world... at a price of course.

So, what do you get? Well, the full shows from all four bands will be included in the two disc set, along with behind the scenes footage and interviews with the guys.

Ya, that would be one kick a$$ show to have taken in. Oh, and speaking of kick a$$, I never get tired of using this photo of James and Dave.

Ha! Ya, those were the good ol' days! I don't even remember where I found it (I usually give credit to the photographer). I just can't get over how great this pic is, GOLD baby! Ha! Best of pals. Chums. Buds forever! NOOOOOOT!

All right back to the post. In addition to the two DVD set and the Blu-ray, there will be a limited edition super deluxe box set including the DVD set, five CD's with all the music, a 24 page booklet, a poster, photos of each band, and a Big 4 guitar pick.

OH my word, a guitar pick. Right, Lars didn't want to just give the stuff away... it would be like taking food from his children's mouths! Frick the guy has so much money his grand kids won't be able to spend it all! Anyway, if you're interested in the box set, you can pre-order in the Metallica store very soon.

UFC 119

If you blinked you'd of missed it. UFC 119 featured a heavy weight bout between Frank Mir and Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic.

Frank Mir (above in the white shorts) kneed Cro Cop in the head in the third round and scored a sudden knock out, in what seemed to be a very long and somewhat boring fight.

However, when Cro Cop was moving toward Mir and defending his position, Cro Cop bent over as Mir was lifting his knee - lights out baby!

Here's how the folks at TorontoSun reported the bout.

It was the capper to what seemed to be a boring night - period! Hm, I should really thank my bud for the invite because I would never have paid for that view!

A Knuckle Head for a Metal Head

Metal and motorcycles... two of my favourite things.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered, this kick-ass classic Harley-Davidson Knuckle Head, belonged to a true rocker!

Albeit, with some slight modifications thanks to Jesse James of West Coast Choppers. Gilby Clarke owns the keys to this beauty!

Clarke, formerly of Guns N’ Roses, is no stranger to the world of custom motorcycles.

Apparently the folks over at West Coast Choppers had already put together a 1965 Panhead for the rocker. But, he had other ideas.

Gilby had his sights set on an old a Knuck, and wouldn't settle. So... you guessed it, Jesse James and crew built Gilby this rad 1941 Harley EL.

While a passing glance may leave one under the impression this sled is vintage, like any other custom WCC designs and builds, Jesse added a few unique details only he and his shop can craft.

West Coast did the frame and springer front end to the bikes OG specs. The Knuck itself - modified to the nuts. Unlike it's predecessors, this bad boy is now 71 cubic inches.

This sweet ride is an Exile Cycles bobber, built by Russell Mitchell.

Here's a Q&A the folks at WCC blog did with Gilby on his 41 Knuck.

Enjoy:

A while ago we built this sweet 1941 Knucklehead for Guitar legend Gilby Clarke. Now that he has had the bike a while and put some serious miles on it, we figured it would be cool to check in and see how the old Knuck is doing!

WCC: So how did you end up getting hooked up with West Coast Choppers?

Gilby: I had been on a hunt for an early knuckle. my friend Grant was over at west coast one day and Jesse had one sitting in his office. Jesse had built my pan motor many moons ago, so I called & asked about it. it was pretty bad ass as it was. but it needed the touch. so off to work they went…

WCC: What do you like best about your Knuckle, and whats is it like to own a West Coast Choppers built bike?

Gilby: I like that it still looks like a classic knuckle, but when you look at the details it’s all West Coast Choppers. I love the bike, it’s my main ride. The first ride I took was the Biltwell bash, I strapped a sleeping bag & tent on it and hit the hills.

WCC: What other bikes do you have?

Gilby: I have a 1965 Panhead, a 1947 Knuckle & a 2001 Fatboy.

WCC: Tell everyone about what you are up to these days!

Gilby: I’m a guitarist & producer… it’s getting tougher to make a living as a musician these days, but so far so good. i just had a bad accident on my Panhead in January (hit n’ run) and I had two surgeries on my leg, so I haven’t been able to perform live since then.

Cowboys From Hell - 20th Anniversary

It's f#ckin' hard to believe Pantera's album, 'Cowboys From Hell' was released 20 years ago!

Many say this is the landmark album that stamped the band's pummeling rhythmic, bone-crushing sound and was for all-intense-and-purposes, the quintessential beginning of the band.

The reason - it was the official debut of the Pantera lineup with singer Philip Anselmo, 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, his brother Vinnie Paul and Rex Brown.

To celebrate the occasion, Rhino is releasing a $hit load of CFH musical memorabilia. Including three anniversary collections for the Pantera aficionado, like this two-disc expanded edition.

This includes a newly remastered version of the original album along with unreleased and rare live performances.

"But wait if you order now...." There is also a three-disc deluxe edition for your listening pleasure.

It also has a remastered version of the original CD along with unreleased and live performances from the CFH Tour. On the third disk - unreleased demos for nearly every album track. Plus, 'The Will To Survive' a previously unreleased song recorded during the album’s sessions. 35 tracks in total.

Pantera's website is offering a limited edition, web store exclusive box set. It contains merchandise only available in the band's official web store!

You get: Cowboys from Hell Logo Flask, Belt Buckle Bottle Opener, Cowboys from Hell Exclusive T-Shirt, 4 Piece Guitar Pick Set, Cowboys from Hell 20th Anniversary Expanded CD. All the $hit come in a Texas Shaped Collector box - whoopee (note the sarcasm)!

This however, is totally fu#kin' bogus. There is a CFH 20th Anniversary iTunes LP which was released 09/16/2010! Seriously. I mean, if you're a serious collector, the last thing you want on your stuff is an Apple logo!

If you are interested: (from their site) the iTunes version includes all 35 tracks from Deluxe Edition and videos. Includes rare photos, memorabilia, lyrics, discography & liner notes from all surviving band members.

This next item however takes the cake! Actually it's something I may even consider snapping up. An ultimate edition box set is scheduled for release in November.

As far as the tunes go, well the ultimate set is the same as the Deluxe.

But dude... it's all the collectibles that amount to the $100 price point. And there isn't a man in his right mind who can refuse a box!

Amazon has the UE box set for sale 11/22/2010.

Can't post a write up on CFH, and not include the tune itself! This is from their stop in Russia. DD is awesome as usual! Enjoy.

For F#ck sakes! I sit down to watch that killer video, and some prick steals my three-disc deluxe edition CD set!

You better run for cover mutha fu#ka, cause' "this pistol down below is aimed at you and I'm a Cowboy From Hell"!

Hockey - Motörhead Style

I am not a fan of Sean Avery. Period! However, when I saw this YouTube posting featuring the tune 'Born to Raise Hell' by the Snaggletöothed hellions, well I thought I'd slap it up here.

This session features host Bob Nalbandian alongside Monte Conner (VP of A&R for Roadrunner Records), author/journalist Martin Popoff and John Strednansky (metal journalist).

The four metalheads talk, discuss, debate, and deliberate the entire Motörhead catalog. Enjoy.
