Motörhead - Portsmouth & Hammersmith

I figured it was time to throw up some more Polaroids of the trio that's taking the UK by storm.

Snaps courtesy: Marc Broussely.

Sorry, but I never tire of that shot of Lemmy. You expect to see it mid-way through every show. It's as if he's about to say... "Loud enough for ya, mutha f%&kers!"

These were taken at the Motörhead gig at the Hammersmith Apollo, on 11/28/2009.

Here Lem is asking... "What the f%&k is Löst Jimmy doing in the balcony?" Sorry Jimmy, I'll blame that poke on writers block and the fact I was hurtin' for something witty to write... and the well was dry! Hopefully that poor attempt at humour on my part, will give you a chuckle and make you feel a little better ;)

The photo of these lovely ladies was taken by krish misty. They're of course with Girlschool... and below, The Damned.

This show was at the Portsmouth Guildhall, 11/25/2009.

That's not a usual pose for Phil... but given the company he keeps, he's certainly among friends with that salute.

El Día de los Muertos

.
He wanted to paint and create works of art for the typical guy, the average Joe. But after looking at his incredible creations, one soon discovers his talent and art is anything but typical or average!
.
.
I'm talking about the work of David Lozeau. This piece is called 'Banditos Prayer'. Kick a$$!
.

.
Lozeau began his career working commercially for Web companies, in print media and in video production. Ya.. but it wouldn't be long before he got fed up "workin' for the man" and decided to set out on his own.
.
.
The SIC pieces he did in oils, acrylics, and watercolors would prove to be the ground work for his true calling. Lozeau decided to channel all his talent and dedicate his time and life to what he loves: Day of the Dead art, hot rods, Tiki statues, tattoos and zombies. Good choice hombre!
.

.
His work has been featured in magazines like Pinstriping,

.
Lowrider magazine,
.

.
and he's also been commissioned to do work for this guy, Jesse James. Jesse is the muscle (if you didn't already know) behind Garage magazine.
.
.
The mag also did a feature spread on Lozeau, you can check it here. Dave's shop put this video together of the T-shirt he designed for Garage. It's in time-lapse and is way cool.
.
Check it.

.
.
This piece is dope! It's called 'Azza the Banished Angel'. While he works in traditional formats, Lozeau will leave his mark wherever he sees fit. You name it, and he's probably painted on it. From surfboards, to violins, and even vintage car parts.
.

.
How bout' this old Merc hub cap. Gnarly!

.

.
Yup, that's a whiskey flask.
.
.
And this is a jug of turpentine. It's funny, most artists use this chemical to clean up their brushes and other tools. David uses it to "clean up" at the cash register, as in... his art brings home the bucks, no matter where you find it!
.
Gran Artista, Si Hombre.

Happy 40th Street Chopper

I was about to start preschool when they published their first magazine. Street Chopper is 40 years young.

From it's humble beginnings, the mag has gone on to become one of the most sought after and respected motorcycle publications out there.

As unlikely as it may seem... SC started life as a promotional tool for A.E.E. Choppers. The company is credited as being the first custom chopper parts manufacturer.

The mag allowed bike builders and enthusiasts to check out the latest creations out there, see what builders had on the block, and was one of the first publications to offer tech tips.

Builders... whether it was their profession, or if they were working out of their garage, could then order the parts from A.E.E. Choppers.

It was a "I'll scratch your back, if you scratch mine" type relationship, but served the machine shop well reaching out to potential, and what would eventually become, long time customers.

Wow, look at that Sporty. It wouldn't look out of place in today's bike shows. The more things change... the more they stay the same.

Motörhead - Hammersmith

A legendary venue, for a legendary band. Here's a few snaps of Motörhead (with The Damned & Girlschool) performing at Hammersmith 11/28/09.

I Have PTDF (Pan to Die For) Syndrome

Pure, sweet, honey!

The owner of this incredible Pan is a buddy, of the guy who is taking the snaps.

The bike was shot at the old Fitzgerald, Ga Airport.

The owner's name is Whit and he rides one of the sickest scoots out there. Period!

There isn't a damn thing on this baby I'd change, O-K there is one... the TITLE!!

With Every Season Turn.. Turn.. Turn.

Yes sir-eee folks... the white spots you see on the camera lens and reflected in the flash, are what you think they are. SNOW!

Those are my size 11 boot tracks (in the pic below) freshly stamped on the cement of the garage approach.

Impressions which will last until next April, when another year of hope springs eternal.

"Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home, Rests and expatiates in a life to come".

Alexander Pope - circa 1733

Spring will also yield your humble narrators next opportunity to saddle up on the Motörheadster. An opportunity I will no doubt long for... yet anticipate with baited breath.

Ride to live - Live to ride!

What you may not be able to see, are my tears of anguish as another riding season comes to an official end.

Farfegnugen is all I can say about this year on the scoot!

Fortune Teller

I'm in a paint appreciation kinda' mood. This is a one-off Sucker Punch Sally bike called "Fortune Teller".

The paint is by Sara Ray

She's worked with Christian and the folks at SPS on a number of projects.

Every time I see her artwork on their scoots, I feel as if I'm looking at ol' skool tattoo flash.

Hm, fender paint or shoulder ink... either would suit me just fine.

Sweet ride! Dig that sissy bar, it really finishes it off rather well.

This pic (among others) was just posted on SPS flickr photostream. The post said something about employee snaps. Yah, I'd take her pic too if she worked for me.

Leedin' Ya to the Pit

Maybe it's the mood I'm in... but I have no idea why I find this so funny. The video itself isn't that bad (clarity/quality). The sound is pretty good as well. I guess it's the fact the dude who shot this, was in the pit at a Motörhead concert and was working his a$$ off to try and hold his shot nice and steady. And he did rather well.

**VIDEO WARNING**

Take a gravol before you watch this.

Serpentine Saturday

Found this killer paint job and I just had to post it.

The boys at Boneshakers Choppers are responsible for this sick piece of work. I'm not sure if they have their own paint booth or if they have the work sent out... none-the-less, its kick a$$!

I love the serpentine look!

Here's a couple of their bikes. Nicely finished, both sporting wicked paint jobs.

Nice stuff.
